DRONME JUST WANTS TO TALK

Tis I, your resident Trophy Hog, beginning yet another project that will surely be abandoned long before reaching its potential. Shall we?

SO HERE’S THE DEAL, I’m a mess.

I know I’ve thrown that declaration around a lot in the past, and I’ll admit, pretty recklessly. In taking inventory of the last handful of years, I can say with certainty that most of the times those words left my lips, either jokingly at a party or to my foggy post-shower reflection, I was unaware of just how bad things were going to get. I’m not dying - at least not right now. Although, I have been the lucky recipient of several bouts of swollen lymph nodes over the past few months, the cause of which remains unknown. But more on that later. 

Mostly I’m just sad and bored. The year anniversary of moving back in with my parents is on the horizon. Before that I was living with my grandmother and before that back with my parents, so it was more of a horizontal move than a full-blown collapse. Humbling nonetheless. My modeling career stalled out long ago, all my friends live a couple hundred miles away, I’m too anxious to get a driver's license and I’m pretty sure my hairline is receding at a record-breaking rate. So naturally, like any good Gen Z-er, I am flocking to the internet. 

To make matters all the more desperate, I am currently undergoing the harrowing ordeal of applying to university. Again. I can’t believe I did this shit successfully at 19 years old. For every document I fill out, there sit behind it another fifteen, each with their own collection of violent and unanswerable questions like “where do you see yourself in ten years?” or “what is your best quality?” I am on the brink of tears every time I open my CommonApp tab. 

I need friends and writing practice. So here we are. I imagine that the content of these here “newsletters” (the use of that term is a bit of a stretch in this case – I can assure you, there will be no credible news being reported), will be a sloppy and unedited hodgepodge of my many interests. Feminist fiction, Dev Patel, fashion, rageful diary entries about my dad, sad indie girl music, Dev Patel again, an exhaustive analysis of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, fretting over my own mortality, you get the point. What wonders lie before us!  

Basically, Dronme just wants to talk.
